There's about 10 weeks to go before we depart. Join us for a day, a week, a month or more at any stage of the tour. Why not join us on the start leg from London down to the ferry port. We'll be camping along the way and will take it easy the first few days as we condition ourselves for the trip ahead. Feel free to contact us for more info.
Death. The inescapable reality that will befall us all. Some say, it’s just part of life, the end of it, perhaps another dimension to it. Others say it’s the beginning, the start of something new.
We all fear it to some measure.
If you’re lucky, you will die suddenly with no suffering or pain. If you are even luckier, you will have a small moment of time to put your affairs in order and say goodbye to your loved ones and make right the things that are important to you.
But how do you cope with the knowledge of your own death, and how does your family deal with everything.
St Catherine’s Hospice is a charity based in West Sussex in the United Kingdom that provides care for adults of all ages that have been diagnosed with terminal illness. They also provide support to their families. To do this, they need to raise £13, 698 every single day for as long as they hope to continue providing these services. At any one time, they are supporting over 550 people.
I visited Jen Wickham from St Catherine’s Hospice today to discuss me using the London to Cape Town cycle as a platform for raising money for their charity. This is something I really want to do, and I am very touched and inspired by their organisation and the important work they do.
If this means anything to you at all, then please make a small donation to support what they do.
The blog has been silent, but only because I'm working every possible moment to ensure my work projects are complete by the time I depart. The trip is still on, and everything is now counting down to the final departure date of October 5th 2012. Three months to go to the day!
The blog will be updated soon.
This website shows our journey as we cycle from London through Europe and Africa all the way down to Cape Town.
